The College of Graduate Studies now offers three 12-credit, fully online endorsements. These endorsements—Instructional Coaching, Mathematics Coaching, and Online Instruction—which are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are added to existing Level I or Level II certifications, and are based on current Pennsylvania Standards-Aligned Curriculum.
A survey of area superintendents indicated that endorsements in Coaching and Online Instruction are highly valued credentials, which can provide educators with more marketability in the public school system and which are an indicator of a highly qualified educator.
Instructional Coaching and Mathematics Coaching represent sound, job-embedded professional development that has the potential to improve instructional practice and, ultimately, student achievement. Coaching is ongoing, classroom-based and personalized for each teacher. It provides consistent support to teachers as they work to improve practice based on collaboration, inquiry and consultative feedback from the coach.
The Online Instruction Endorsement will not only prepare you to perform the duties necessary for implementing online instruction, but will also help you become an instructional leader able to address questions related to the field and able to assist programs, courses, and fellow teachers in the transformation of traditional instruction into the online environment.
You may choose to earn one of these endorsements on its own, or you may combine any of these endorsement programs with the M.A. in Educational Leadership.
