Immaculata University's Office of Financial Aid administers a variety of need-based financial assistance programs. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed and submitted in order to be eligibile for any of these programs.
Immaculata University participates in a number of federal need-based grant programs. The general criteria for eligibility include enrollment in an eligible institution; status of citizen, national, or permanent resident of the U.S. or the Trust Territories of the Pacific Islands; and demonstration of financial need. Need is defined as the difference between educational costs—tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies, and personal expenses—and the amount the student and the student’s family can be expected to pay for the education as determined by the federal need analysis formula.
Federal Pell Grant
The Pell Grant is a need-based federally funded grant. The awards vary in amounts and are based upon the eligibility criteria from the processed FAFSA. This grant is awarded to either full- or part-time enrolled undergraduate students pursuing their first degree-granting program.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
This grant program is administered by the University and is awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and are enrolled at least half-time. The minimum FSEOG award is $100 per year. Priority is given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant.
PENNSYLVANIA STATE PROGRAMS
Many states offer grants, based on financial need and full-time enrollment status, to their residents. Some of these grants may be used only at institutions within that state while others may be used at colleges outside the state. Students from states other than Pennsylvania should check with their state’s higher education office to determine whether or not they qualify. Pennsylvania State Grant Program (PHEAA Grant)
The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) offers grants that vary in amount. Notification of award amount will be provided directly to the student by PHEAA. Awards are determined by PHEAA on the basis of financial need and enrollment status. Application is made by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and is available for eight semesters for qualified students. State grant application deadline is May 1 of every year.
Students who are taking more than 50% of their credits online in a given term are not eligible for PHEAA State Grant funding for that term.
The Chafee Education and Training Grant (ETG) Program
The Chafee Education and Training Grant (ETG) Program is a federally funded program administered through the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). This grant offers assistance to Pennsylvania undergraduate students aging out of foster care who are attending a post-secondary institution. Maximum awards are $5,000 per academic year and are contingent upon federal funding; thus they are not guaranteed.
Educational Assistance Program (EAP)
The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) together with the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), administer the Educational Assistance Program (EAP) for members of the Pennsylvania National Guard. This program provides tuition assistance for students who enter into a service commitment with the Pennsylvania National Guard, typically for a period of six years.
The Maguire Scholarship Higher Education Program
Immaculata University, in partnership with The Maguire Foundation, will provide need-based academic scholarships to incoming new full-time traditional freshman or transfer students. The Maguire Foundation Scholarship is a highly selective and prestigious award.
Due to the competiveness and selectivity of the Maguire Foundation Scholarship award, Immaculata University will only be awarding five (5) renewable “last-dollar” scholarships per year from the selected eligible nominated group of incoming first-time full-time freshmen and/or incoming community college transfer students who have been previously awarded enrolling with Immaculata University in the College of Undergraduate Studies. The finalists will be selected based in the order in which the enclosed award application forms are received and demonstrated financial need has been established. After five qualified applications have been received, a waitlist will be utilized until all awards have been confirmed.
Qualified applicants must meet the scholarship requirements of: Graduating from one of The Foundation Partnership High Schools (Listing can be seen online at: The Maguire Foundation High School Listing), Maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, be engaged in community service/University activities, and have demonstrated financial need Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of less than $10,000, determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
All new incoming accepted applicants must submit a Maguire Scholars Application and all supporting documentation, along with having a FAFSA on file with Immaculata by March 7.
