The Best of Italy Tour for Nursing Majors

June 30 – July 10, 2015

2015 Theme: Bella Italia!

Optional three-credit undergraduate nursing elective (NUR 414) in Spring Semester 2015 available.**

Consider the world of nursing from an international perspective.

Learn about the cradle of European civilization through the art, history, and archaeology of Italy.

Our 11-day guided tour will begin in Florence, exploring Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Basilica of Santa Croce, where many famous Italians are buried, including Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli, Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, Gates of Paradise, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Dante's House, and a visit to a leather workshop. An excursion to Pisa includes the Baptistery, Duomo and Leaning Tower in the Field of Miracles. We’ll then travel to Verona, home of Romeo and Juliet’s balcony and the Roman Arena.

Our next destination is Venice, with a guided sightseeing tour of St. Mark’s Square, the Basilica of San Marco, the Doge's Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs, followed by a glass-blowing demonstration. Then off to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and a visit to the Basilica of St. Francis. We’ll tour medieval Orvieto on our way to Rome, the Eternal City, to explore the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, the Forum Romanum, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and Piazza Venezia. We’ll enjoy a guided excursion through Pompeii and a tour of a cameo workshop, then a visit to Sorrento. From there we’ll island-hop to Capri, and weather permitting, visit the Blue Grotto. There will be ample opportunity for shopping and exploring!

The trip price is all-inclusive*: round-trip airfare from Philadelphia, hotel with private bath, full breakfasts and two group dinners, transportation in Italy, admission fees to all attractions, guided sightseeing tours and city walks, a full-time professional tour director, chaperones, and more!
